『Against the clock』 は 『beat the clock』より緊張感のある表現です。『Beat the clock』は目標に制限時間があると言う表現ですが、『Against the clock』は時間が迫っていると表現になるため、緊急時などに使います。例えば、誰かの命を救うために薬を時間内に届けなければならないと言う場合は『Against the clock』を使います。
Kill time
意味：(短時間・期間の）暇を潰すこと、または時間を潰すこと。
例：After arriving too early for a haircut appointment, I managed to kill time by perusing their fashion magazines.
詳細『暇を潰すこと』 と 『時間を潰すこと』の違い。
『時間を潰す』は、待ち時間や何かの合間を埋めるために使うことが多いです。例えば、予定があるまでの間に、何かをして時間を過ごすこと。
『暇をつぶす』は、暇な時間を過ごすために使うことが多いです。特に何もすることがないときに、何かをして過ごすということです。
『kill time』は両方の意味を持ち、文脈によって意味を使い分けます。
